Don’t forget that you need good NLE software. Final Cut Express gets you going for <$199.00 and is one of the best.

Thanks Talmadge,

Good point. I use Camtasia for Mac and it is less than $100!!!!

The main point is that it is not expensive to be an web video and internet marketing rock star.

Also my suggestion for the beginner is to just get the zi8 and get the Canon HV 30 only if you have the ability to Firewire the video into you Mac or PC and or if you are really going to be doing a lot of web video marketing or web tv with Ustream or Livestream.

No problem Matt. Do you have any other Internet Marketing Questions or Social Media questions? If I know what questions you have I will know better what to blog about.

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ryan! Great info! I wondered what technology to use to record my tutorials. Audio Technica seems like a great solution. You’re an absolutely knight! Thanks for saving me a lot of research, time and expenditures I would have had to do otherwise…Jae Smith

Yes Jae the Audio Technica lovelier mic rocks! It’s only about $29. and it plugs right into the Zi8… Thats the whole advantage to the Zi8. It allows you to record with a mic.

If you want to know tool to use to capture your screen for any type of tutorials I highly suggest using Screencast or Camtasia. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the kind words.

Hi Ryan,

The Audio Technica lavalier mic just arrived in the mail today and I am excited to start
recording using Camtasia at your advice. However, since this is a holiday weekend, the support for Audio Technica is closed in observance of the 4th. I hope it is not an imposition to ask, but how do I get the mic to work on my laptop? Does your voice amplify when you speak into the mic? So far I cannot detect whether the mic is functioning when I plug it in to the mic on my laptop and speak into it. I have checked the battery. Is there another way to troubleshoot or investigate the issue?

Thanks,

Jae Smith

Jae, Hey got your comments. I’m excited that you went out and took some action girl!!!

Unfortunately, that lav mic will not work with your computer (at least it did not with my computer). Now you need to go out and get the zi8 camera girl. and get a small tripod and you’ll be set!!!!!!!

Just follow the link to the Zi8 in the post. I think the camera is only about $175. When you get that record with some decent light (the camera is not very good at low light) you will be blown away at the quality of the picture (and audio) with that camera.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Ryan

Ok, I did not know that it would not work for the laptop. I guess I will have to get a camera. I was getting ready to buy the Canon PowerShot….so I will take a ‘look-see’
at the Zi8.

Thanks for your help and happy 4th to you and your family!

Yours,

Jae

I highly recommend the zi8 because it allows you to use an external mic, it shoots in 1080p full high def, and it is only $175. Oh and it is very easy to upload the video’s to your computer with the zi8.

Hi Ryan,

Actually, I found the Zi8 on eBay for $91.00 bucks. It was a steal! Can’t wait for it to arrive! I hope you have a great holiday today! Thanks for the advice. I am one happy camper!

Great Jae! now just keep me up to speed on how your doing. Make sure to turn off your lav mic after every use or you’ll wear down the battery. I suggest that you get backup batteries for your lav mic just in case.

Also, please sign up to be added to my email list as I will be leading a webinar soon where I will teach you how to create great content. Go to http://ryansteinolfson.com/go/email to sign up.

Thanks

Ryan
